Alright, time for my once-in-a-blue-moon journal update.

First, if I answer things a month late, it's because I'm running around between clinics in a futile attempt to get enough volunteer experience and references to be able to volunteer at a hospital.

So then, in three years, I'll maybe be able to go to med school. If I also magically find a research project to work on without failing anything in the meanwhile.

Interesting story of the day, from psych class:

Apparently, while modelling learning, the military tried to create a nifty little machine that could identify the presence of tanks. So, they fed it a bunch of pictures of tanks and no tanks, until it learned to distinguish reliably. They put it into practice and ... it failed spectacularly.
Why?
Well, it turns out that all the tank pictures were taken in the morning and all the non-tank ones in the evening. The gadget had learned to distinguish between lighting patterns instead of between tank and no tank.
